Agnes and Alfred
Physical Plant Theatre
September 28th through October 27th
The Off Center

Physical Plant Theatre will debut the new play Agnes and Alfred, written by Artistic Director Steve Moore and directed by Carlos Treviño, running at The Off Center from September 28th through October 27th.   First thrown together at a fire evacuation shelter, the title characters hold and release each other for the next 17 years - driven onward by jokes, joy and recklessness.
As an Oregon forest fire burns up their homes and everything they own, Agnes and Alfred meet at an evacuation shelter and start their lives over again, together.  They are too smart and too brave for their own good, and too roughed up already.  Funny at the wrong times and too right for each other, the pair burn each other down to the bare embers over the course of five scenes and 17 years.
The world premiere staging features Thomas Graves, Hannah Kenah and Katie Van Winkle.  Due to the mature nature of the subject matter, the show is not recommended for children under 17.
Playwright Steve Moore co-founded Physical Plant Theater in 1994 and has since written - or had a hand in writing - 13 of the company's 18 shows.  Moore is a two-time recipient of the David Mark Cohen New Play Award, and holds an MFA in Playwriting from the Michener Center for Writers in Austin.  In 2012, his show Bottled-in-Bond - co-created with Zeb L. West - was named "Best Theatrical Event" by the Austin Critics' Table.
Director Carlos Treviño is a theater director, playwright, screenwriter and an artistic associate of Physical Plant Theater and Rubber Repertory.  Segments of his film anthology Fourplay have screened at Cannes and Sundance Film Festivals, and the entire film premiered at Outfest in July 2012.
Performances of Agnes and Alfred will run Thursdays through Saturdays 8 p.m.  Tickets are $18 for general admission.
The Off Center is located at 2211-A Hidalgo Street.  For reservations and more information, call (512) 443-2955 or visit www.PhysicalPlant.org.
