Comic Carla Snowden Brings One-Woman Show to Out of Bounds Comedy Festival

When she took her dream job performing sketch comedy on a cruise ship, Carla Snowden knew she'd have the time of her life.  She was wrong.
So she turned the experience into an award-winning one-woman show Girl Overboard, which has been performed to sold-out audiences in Los Angeles at iO West, Comedy Central Stage Workspace and the Hollywood Fringe Festival.  Snowden brings the performance to Austin for one night during this weekend's Out of Bounds Comedy Festival.
Written and performed by Snowden and directed by Paul Stein - the Artistic Director of the Comedy Central Stage in Los Angeles - Girl Overboard was nominated for a 2010 Del Close Award at iO in Los Angeles.  Snowden switches between fourteen characters as she takes the audience along on her journey of misadventure.
The 9th annual Out of Bounds Comedy Festival returns to Austin for seven days of comedy acts - including four international acts - on seven stages during Labor Day weekend.  More than 500 improv, sketch and stand up comedy performers from all across the globe will descend on Austin from August 31st through September 6th - including iconic sketch comedian Kevin McDonald from "Kids in the Hall," National Public Radio political satirist Will
Durst, Second City's Franken Matt from "Reno 911" and "The Office," and Isreali improv troupe Three Falling.
Girl Overboard plays Thursday, September 2nd, 10:30 p.m. at the Hideout Theatre downtown.  Tickets are $10 for general admission.
The Hideout Theatre is located at 617 North Congress Avenue.  For more information and a complete festival calendar, visit
