    TexARTS presents one of America's greatest plays -  Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie.  Performed as part of TexARTS' professional Off-Broadway Series, the production runs February 26th through March 14th at the Kam & James Morris Theater.
     Considered to be autobiographical, Williams play was originally written for MGM, and premiered in Chicago in 1944 - winning the New York Drama Critics Circle Award in 1945. The Glass Menagerie was Williams' first successful play, and he went on to become one of America's most highly regarded playwrights.
     Williams (whose real name is Thomas) is largely reflected in the main narrator character of Tom, who recounts his life with and escape from his Mother, Amanda, and his sickly sister Laura.  The TexARTS production integrates some of the region's finest talent - including local favorites Babs George and Jude Hickey.
     Performances Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 to $40.
