Folk Music Icon Arlo Guthrie Rides Into The Long Center on March 31st

To celebration of the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, legendary folk music icon Arlo Guthrie is embarking on an epic trek across North America alongside three generations of Guthries for the "Guthrie Family Rides Again" tour, which makes its way to Long Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, March 31st, at 8 p.m.  The Guthrie Family concert will feature Guthrie's standards, as well as a selection of unpublished Woody Guthrie lyrics

recently put to music by such distinguished artists as Billy Bragg, Wilco, Eliza Gilkyson, Janis Ian, Wenzel, The Klezmatics and others.
Arlo Guthrie carries on the Guthrie Family legacy as he travels to American communities to share timeless stories and classic tunes. A celebrated artist in American music, his "Guthrie Family Rides Again" tour brings his singular voice as both a singer-songwriter and social commentator to the stage, alongside his children and grandchildren.
The three generations of Guthries on the tour include Arlo's son Abe, who has contributed keyboards and backing vocals to his father's live shows since the 1980s. His daughters Cathy, Annie and Sarah Lee Guthrie - all of who have their own music careers - will support by singing songs and accompanying on acoustic guitars. Sarah Lee's musical partner and husband, Johnny Irion, will lead songs and lend his guitar playing.  The youngest generation

of Guthrie kids will join in select songs.
In August 2009, Guthrie released a recently discovered lost tape from 1969, entitled Arlo Guthrie: Tales of '69.  Recorded just prior to Woodstock, the recording highlights Guthrie live in concert in Long Island, New York, and features nine tracks - including an epic 28-minute talking blues tale as well as three previously unrecorded songs.
Rising Son Records also released the 2007 recording In Times Like These on vinyl this past October 2009. A collection of original songs and select American classics performed by Guthrie and the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, the album marks the culmination of the musician's ambitious work with 27 different symphony orchestras and more than 40 live concerts.
Tickets for the "Guthrie Family Rides Again" concert at The Long Center are $29 to $59.  For tickets and information, cal (512) 474-LONG (5664) or visit www.TheLongCenter.org.
