Tony Award-winning
actress, singer and songwriter Idina Menzel - star of
Broadway's Wicked and the original stage production of Rent - has
rescheduled her Austin concert debut for Thursday, June 14th,
at 8 p.m. at The Long Center. Tickets will go on sale to
the public on Saturday, March 3rd, at 10 a.m.
Menzel was
previously scheduled to perform in concert at The Long Center
on November 20, 2011. She canceled that original tour,
due to her return to the television show "Glee,"
where she plays "Shelby Corcoran" - the biological
mother of lead character "Rachel Berry."
Menzel has enjoyed a
diverse career on the stage, in film, television and in music.
On March 6th, she will release both the CD and DVD of Idina Menzel Live: Barefoot at the Symphony - a journey through a diverse repertoire
of classic pop and musical theater favorites, including a fresh
spin on contemporary songs. Led by legendary composer and
conductor Marvin Hamlisch, the television special was filmed at
The Royal Conservatory's Koerner Hall in Toronto, Canada, and
will air locally on KLRU at 3 p.m. on March 4th, at 8 p.m. on
March 6th and at 10:30 p.m. on March 14th.
Tickets for the
rescheduled Austin concert start at $45. Tickets will be
