Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance

      Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance brings their annual Esperanza de la Herencia back to Austin with a free performance dedicated to inspiring youth.  Featuring a live music and dance recital of the organization's cultural arts students, backed by the PRFDance and Jr. performing companies, the performance will be held on Sunday, May 20th, at the Mexican American Cultural Center.
    Esperanza de la Herencia 2012 displays the rich variety of Puerto Rico's traditions, with free admission to all children under the age of 18.  The live music and dance recital showcases more than 50 dancers, musicians and performing arts students, with special performances by the professional-level and junior performing companies.
     "Children are the hope of the future," said Dr. Tekina-eirú Maynard, founding director of the Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance and Cultural Center.  "We hope our programs create a lovefor culture that lasts a lifetime, and inspires them to celebrate and transmit our joyful heritage to future generations."
