This Uh...Body
Austin Mime Theatre
October 4th through 13th
VORTEX Repertory Theatre

Austin Mime Theatre asks "We see each other every day...but who don't we see?" with the new surreal dark comedy This Uh...Body.  The physical theatre work plays October 4th through 13th at the VORTEX Theatre.
The high energy, sometimes comical, often tragic look at what happens when a body suddenly appears on a busy street - full of busy people with busy jobs - wonders if people are just happy the bullet missed them today, or all too busy to notice.  Conceived, written and choreographed by Michael Lee, This Uh...Body features original music by Brad Murphy and lighting design by Steven Shirey.
Somebody gets shot, but who? The nagging housewife?  Her comatose husband?  The not-so-blind beggar or bumbling thief?  The jovial cop is sure everything is fine.  Meanwhile, the Cat Lady sheds her fur, has a good roll and slinks away with her friends.
Is this uh…body…dead or alive?  The bag lady doesn't care, the little girl does, her friend thinks it's totally weird, and the audience spirals through a mesmerizing world of what scrap of humanity is left.
This Uh...Body features a cast of company principal actors, including artistic director Michael Lee, Amelia Turner, Kyle Connealy and Melissa Trevino.  Joining them for the production are Becky Karpovsky, Anna McConnell, Lucas Reilly and Melissa Vogt-Patterson.
Performances will run Thursdays through Sundays at 8 p.m., with an "Industry Night" performance on Monday, October 10th.  Tickets are $25 to $30 for priority seating, $15 to $20 for general admission and $10 for starving artists.
The VORTEX Theatre is located at 2307 Manor Road.  For tickets and more information call (512) 478-LAVA (5282) or visit
