August 24, 2010 - Austin Event Updates, Part II
Our friend and
photographer Bill Bastas founded the charity The Smile Never Fades to
benefit the Breast Cancer Research Center. Bill lost his wife to cancer in 2006,
and - as a way to heal - published a book of photographs of he
took of breast cancer survivors. He is now on his fourth book
and hosting the fourth annual gala on September 9th at The Long
Center to raise awareness and to promote the book - which also
benefits the organization.
Larry Kille and his team at
Sterling Affairs will design and cater the event, which
will feature many pink items - including seared duck breast,
beef tenderloin, mini baked potato grill and miniature
desserts. The theme is "High Drama," complete with
modern furniture, futuristic lighting, creative cocktails, and
cuisine with a fun and whimsical flair. Blood orange margarita
and vanilla bean/pina colada cotton candy, anyone? How about
vodka, white chocolate, and Kahlua coffee snowballs?
Finally, join Austin
On Stage Magazine as we bid farewell to the cast of the
national Broadway tour of the mega-hit musical Jersey Boys.
We're hosting the Closing Night Cast Party on Sunday,
September 5th, at The Rusty Spur - located at 405 E. 7th Street
downtown. Come mix and mingle with the cast and crew,
starting at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
