September 1, 2009 - Austin Chocolate Festival
     We’ve been so busy working on the new children’s television show and hosting arts events, that we’ve been neglecting our duties as your social reporter.  And although we could not wrangle an invite from the Texas Hill Country Food and Wine Festival for the preview party of the 2010 Festival and "Stars Across Texas" event. we have been graciously invited to the 4th Annual Austin Chocolate Festival!

     The festival runs September 18th and 19th at the Monarch Event Center, and proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  The chocolate lovers’ Heaven will feature vendors, local chocolatiers and chocolate artisans - including restaurants, bakeries, chocolatiers, patisseries, authors, and catering companies - sampling their wares.  
    Produced by Steven or Jennifer Flood - owners of Fat Turkey Chocolates - the event has already been raised more than $5,000 to benefit  the Susan G. Komen organization.  Steven and Jennifer hope to double that monetary goal with the 2009 festival.

     The two day event will feature our friend and Austin's premier mixologist, David Alan of the Tipsy Texan, mixing cocktails with local spirits and offering samples to Opening Night guests.   And participants will compete in several categories - including “Best Truffle” and “Best Chocolate Sculpture” - as voted by the public and a panel of professionals.
     Tickets are $37.89 for opening night (Friday the 18th) and includes live music, appetizers, and other special events.  Admission for Saturday the 20th is $21.65.   Check out the website at www.AustinChocolateFestival.com for all the details.
