April 27, 2010 - Two Upcoming Culinary Events
     Two upcoming culinary events are sure to make heads spin.  First, MexNet Alliance and Fonda San Miguel will host famed author and authority on Mexican cooking - Chef Diana Kennedy - for an intimate dinner on Wednesday, April 28th, at 6 p.m.  Kennedy will discuss her upcoming book Oaxaca, which will be published in English by UT Press this September.

traveling through Mexico researching cooking techniques and the history of Mexican cuisine. She is the winner of the IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals) Lifetime Achievement Award, and author of more than 10 critically acclaimed books on the history, culture and traditions of Mexican cuisines.

    Then on Monday, May 10th, Twin Liquors Marketplace in Hancock Plaza will host famed comedian, film star and - now - spirits distiller, Dan Aykroyd, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. for a bottle signing of his new Crystal Head Vodka.  The former “Saturday Night Live” comedian and star of the iconic Blues Brothers - and films that include Trading Places, Ghostbusters and Driving Miss Daisy - will personalize bottles of his super-premium vodka.

    Aykroyd has been involved with producing and distributing wine and spirits for seven years, and he created Crystal Head Vodka as a result of his fascination with the supernatural.  According to Twin Liquors, the super-premium vodka is made with water from a deep aquifer in Newfoundland, Canada, blended with selected grains, and  quadruple distilled and triple crystal filtered through Herkimer diamonds - which according to New Age belief systems, embody positive energy and goodwill.
