March 18, 2009: SXSW Mayor’s Party
Austin’s
“Music Mayor” Will Wynn presided over his last SXSW event on
Wednesday in grand fashion. Hosted by the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, the annual “Mayor’s Party”
brought out the national media to mingle with Austin’s
celebrities and music elite.
The City Hall balcony overlooking Lady Bird Lady was swarming with people
- all munching on pate from La Condesa and
brisket sliders from Lambert’s,
and washing it down with Tito’s Vodka cocktails, Barefoot Wine
bubbly, and Sweet Leaf Tea. We had the chance to chat with Austin American Statesman’s Michael Barnes, Austin Chronicle’s style avatar Stephen Moser (looking fantastic, we noted), ACVB’s media
matron Beth Krauss, philanthropist and StandardAnswer.com’s
Steven Rice, and the man-of-the-hour himself Mayor Will Wynn.
Since this
Will’s final year as mayor elect of Austin, the ACVB
wanted this year’s party to be one of the highlights of
SXSW. And from all the conversations we joined, they
definitely succeeded!
